Such a charming 1920’s sewing box in lovely condition and made of Burmese teak. The top flaps open from the centre revealing a large storage compartment for “work in progress”, fabrics, yarns, patterns, tools and larger haberdashery items. Above this there is a tray that fits across half of the storage area. This tray is divided into nine small compartments for cotton reels, sewing needles, beads, fasteners etc. The top outside edge has a decorative carved scalloped border. Under the box is a shallower drawer with two brass knobs. This drawer is also divided into nine compartments for scissors etc. It all stands on elegantly tapered legs. It will make a stylish statement in any sewing room!
